Buses

Sydney Buses can connect you to locations such as Balmain; a trendy inner city suburb and can take you down to Bondi Beach. Most buses do not allow for ticket purchase on the bus. You will have to buy a ticket at the newsagency, or convenience stores. If you plan to travel on buses frequently get yourself a travel 10 card. This allows for 10 trips back and forth – you will have to select your zone, so make sure you select correctly.

Don’t forget that you if you plan to only get around the city centre Route 555  is the green free bus. This bus operates between Central Station and Circular Quay, a good option for getting around the city quickly, and departs from most bus stops. Look for the green bus.

Red buses. The red buses around Sydney are express services. These buses typically cater to work commuters and are there to support the growing city. You will note there are many of these coloured buses around peak hours. These buses do not stop at all stops, so make sure you know which stop you want to get off at – mainly large crossroads.
